I haven't posted in a couple of weeks for a few reasons.
For one I was amazingly sick for a few days. I had a virus that ran me into the ground. 102.6 degree temperature, chills, feeling like i was swallowing glass, lots of phlegm. The list goes on and on. I also lost 12 pounds of water weight in 4 days. Oh and I had pink eye. So I was down for the count for a few days.
This couldn't come at a worse time. The Austin Marathon is tomorrow. So this of course means I won't be running. Which is amazingly disheartening. Everytime I get an email update from the marathon folks I burst into tears.
The thing is I've been wanting to run the full marathon in Austin for 4 years. And I was finally ready. Sure the hamstring issue pull was going to keep me from breaking 5 hours, but I had run the hills, done the speedwork and even figured out the miracle cure for my ankles (Bikram Yoga). And then I got sick. It was a hard thing to have to admit that running wasn't going to happen. Everyone knows I'm a bit Type-A and admitting defeat is difficult. But I knew that all I would do is make myself sick again and well a marathon medal isn't worth being as sick as I was.
So now I'm going to put my mind on training for Rock N Roll San Antonio. There's also a half marathon in Seabrook, TX in March that I might do. Of course I haven't run in a few weeks so we'll see if that happens. I'm almost all the way healthy, so tomorrow I'm going to head out and see if I can run 3-5 miles. Wish me luck.
Oh and Brian and Michelle, Good luck in Austin tomorrow!!
