There's an episode of Seinfeld where a woman is about to breakup with George and he denies her the breakup. I think I've officially turned into George Costanza. Running is trying to breakup with me. The Human Race 10K in Austin was its greatest attempt at ending the relationship. And even though it was my worst 10K time ever, since I'm still getting back into the swing of things and wasn't supposed to run hills yet and am apparently full of excuses, I finished! I said I would finish and I did. So then the following Saturday I went out for a run with Allison and Marissa and I felt great! I finally felt like I was getting back on track and would really be ready for the half marathon in November. And then Sunday rolle around.
I made it out to run with the Fleet Feet group, which is always a good kick in the pants for me. Felt good as I made it up the first hill and into the first mile. Then BOOM out of nowhere the road jumped up and grabbed me and I fell. Ok, maybe I tripped on a pothole but either way I fell. But I got up determined to finish four miles if it killed me, which it apparently was trying to do.
In any case I'm winning the no breakup fight and plugging along. Wish me luck a I keep trying to make running love me.
